Julian Taylor in the Benelux for a few shows with new music under his belt

17-06-2024

Julian Taylor just released his second single of his forthcoming album. On "Running Away," a real change of pace in Taylor's solo work, you can feel the palpable sense of excitement as he tears through an incendiary, Muddy Waters-style, blues-rock shuffle about the effort to transcend one's own pain. It asks the crucial question, "Am I really getting over it, or am I just running away?" Colin Linden's masterful lead-guitar riffing crackles with energy throughout the song.

"All my life, I’ve been a huge rural blues fan," says Taylor. "My grandfather used to spin old blues records like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee when I was a kid, so that kind of rockabilly country blues groove lives inside me. It speaks to letting go, and trying to elevate oneself from burdens that have caused hurt. I love that this is the first take of the song, right off the floor. We cut it a few more times but nothing had the electrifying spark that the first take had. I can’t wait to play this live!"

Besides the first two singles “Weighing Down,” and “Running Away,” Taylor plans a few additional singles from Pathways leading up to the album release later this year, including: “Sixth Line Road” on July 10th; and “Pathways” (featuring Allison Russell) on August 21st.

With the new music under his belt Julian Taylor will hit the Benelux starting June 22nd in Lelystad:

22/06: Lelystad, NL - Corneel
23/06: Bever, BE - Rosario
24/06: Eindhoven, NL - Americana Mondays
