Garrett T. Capps & NASA Country take "People Are Beautiful" to the Benelux in October and November

31-03-2023

Like Willie, Waylon, and Kacey Musgraves, Garrett T. Capps and his band NASA Country come from a long line of Texans adding their own spin to country tradition.

On last year’s People Are Beautiful, the San Antonio native and his band mix twang with synthesizers and a krautrock pulse, but what really sets it apart is Capps’s sensibility. He sings about politics, paranoia, and the darkness of our times, but it’s all lightened because he’s a funny and positive dude. If you’re going to kick out the jams on cosmic country, it helps if you’re as cosmically, wonderfully weird as Capps.

You’ve heard the phrase, ‘Don’t Mess With Texas’? Well, Garrett T. Capps likes to mess with Texas. As he describes himself, he is “San Antonio’s resident cosmic country gonzo honky tonk weirdo freak.” Or as the headline in Rolling Stone online screamed in boldface: “Meet the Texas Weirdo Mixing Kraftwerk with Doug Sahm to Create ‘Kraut Country’.” The Texas band mixes their home state's history of off-the-beaten-path country music with electronics and psychedelics that recall anything from Kraftwerk's motorik jams to Ride's kaleidoscopic shoegaze, and the result is music that's both defiantly unique and extremely likable.

In October they'll bring their latest "People Are Beautiful" over for a string of shows in the Benelux:

26/10: Nijmegen, NL - Merleyn
27/10: Utrecht, NL - TivoliVredenburg
28/10: Amsterdam, NL - London Calling
29/10: Eindhoven, NL- Altstadt
30/10: Lint, BE - t Groot Verzet
02/11: Gent, BE - Charlatan
03/11: Groningen, NL - Vera
04/11: Hengelo, NL - Beerland
