The Americana, Roots & Alt.Country festival Down By The River at Grenswerk has announced the final names for its ninth edition, set to take place on April 13, 2025. Headliner Kitty, Daisy & Lewis has been added to the line-up. With the addition of Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Heath, Melanie Ryan, and Doctor Velvet, the line-up is now complete. Previously, the festival announced performances by Sam Outlaw, Brown Horse, and Jana Mila.

This year marks the ninth edition of Down By The River, held in and around Grenswerk. The festival is organized by Poppodium Grenswerk and Sedate Bookings and takes place across multiple stages at Grenswerk. Selected performances will also be hosted at the nearby Joriskerk, just a stone's throw from Grenswerk.

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (UK)
The London-based siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis Durham are extraordinarily talented songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. With over a quarter of a million albums sold worldwide, the trio has headlined sold-out tours, performed at Bestival and Glastonbury multiple times, and opened for iconic acts like Mark Ronson and Coldplay. From a young age, they’ve inspired audiences and amassed a devoted fanbase, including Amy Winehouse, Eagles Of Death Metal, and David Lynch. Their live performances feature a genre-defying mix of R&B, jazz, soul, blues, ska, country, and rock ’n’ roll, with each sibling frequently swapping instruments on stage.

Sam Outlaw (USA)
A rising star in Americana, Sam Outlaw offers a fresh take on country music by blending traditional influences with a modern twist. With his warm voice and heartfelt lyrics, he crafts intimate and captivating performances that resonate deeply with audiences. As one of the headliners, Sam Outlaw promises an unforgettable experience at Down By The River 2025.

Brown Horse (UK)
Hailing from Norwich, Brown Horse is a six-piece band that combines the alternative rock of the ’90s with the soulful sounds of ’70s folk and country. Inspired by legends like Uncle Tupelo, Neil Young, and Lucinda Williams, their rich, evocative sound bridges nostalgia and innovation. Known for their dynamic live shows, the band merges bluegrass, folk, and rock influences seamlessly.

Heath (NL)
Heath delivers a psychedelic storm with their debut album Isaak's Marble, inviting listeners into a boundless and mesmerizing world filled with intricate rhythms, harmonica, driving guitars, and evocative vocals. Renowned for their energetic live performances, Heath has been hailed as “a promise from The Hague” by 3voor12 Den Haag and won the Music Support Award. In 2024, they shone at ESNS and Roadburn with spellbinding performances.

Jana Mila (NL)
Jana Mila offers an elegant blend of indie and Americana. Her warm vocals and poetic lyrics create an intimate atmosphere, captivating listeners with her authentic and heartfelt style.

Melanie Ryan (NL)
Melanie Ryan weaves her musical journey into what she calls “Braided Style Music,” a fusion of pop, country, and folk. Having honed her craft in Nashville, she pairs Nashville-style storytelling with broad appeal. Known for her live performances and appearances on NPO Radio 2, Melanie’s star continues to rise.

Doctor Velvet (NL)
This Amsterdam duo serves up a sizzling mix of rhythm ’n’ blues, rock ’n’ roll, and boogaloo. Inspired by The Sonics and Little Richard, David and Jerome met in high school and bonded over their shared love of rock ’n’ roll. In the past year, they’ve toured France, performed with Benjamin Herman, and made their debut on Paradiso’s main stage.
