Dale Watson brings his Ameripolitan songs to NL next week
19-10-2016The American country singer Dale Watson is an outside ever since his debut records "Cheatin' Heart Attack" (1995). With his mixture of honky-tonk, western swing and rockabilly he rebels he's anything but mainstream country - Watson is ‘too country now for country, just like Johnny Cash’ as he sings in his song Nashville Rash.
Dale Watson is a honky-tonk hero and country music maverick, a true outlaw carrying on where Waylon Jennings left off. A member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame, he stands alongside Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and George Strait as one of the finest country singers and songwriters from Texas.
Dale Watson has flown the flag of classic honky-tonk for over two decades. He's christened his brand of American roots "Ameripolitan" to differentiate it from current crop of Nashville-based pop country. The Alabama-born, Texas-raised Watson may be the hardest working entertainer today and is rapidly approaching legendary status.
This keeper of the true country music flame, recently returned with "Call Me Insane", a new studio album recorded in Austin. He returns to NL next week for three shows:
25-OCT: Utrecht (NL) @ TivoliVredenburg
26-OCT: Haarlem (NL) @ Patronaat w/ James Intveld
28-OCT: Heerlen (NL) @ Nieuwe Nor w/ Reverend Shawn Amos
