Cerys Hafana comes to NL for four shows with new EP "Crwydro"

11-10-2024

Cerys Hafana release a new EP last month: Crwydro. It marks two years since the release of Edyf, with new arrangements of two pieces from that album on the piano. She recorded the pieces at the wonderful StudiOwz earlier in the year, and Cerys can't wait to share more from those sessions with you over the coming months.

Cerys Hafana is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who mangles, mutates, and transforms traditional music. She explores the creative possibilities and unique qualities of the triple harp, and is also interested in found sounds, archive materials and electronic processing. She comes from Machynlleth, Wales, where rivers and roads meet on the way to the sea. Cerys has performed live sessions on BBC Radio 2’s Woman’s Hour, BBC Radio 3’s In Tune and Cerys Matthews’ BBC Radio 6Music show. Her second album, Edyf, was also recently selected as one of The Guardian’s Top Ten folk albums.

The Guardian writes: "Brilliant triple-harpist Hafana continues to dig deep to explore the possibilities of her instrument, as well as neglected corners of Welsh song that speak to our anxious present (it’s no accident that Edyf is an old Welsh word for “thread”). Celtic summer carols, psalm tunes and hymns shudder gorgeously."

This month Cerys Hafana will be in the Netherlands for four shows:

17/10: Groningen, NL - Lutherse Kerk
18/10: Arnhem, NL - Luxor Live
19/10: Amen, NL - Cultureel Café de Amer
20/10: Tilburg, NL - Paradox
