Birdy, Liana Flores, Katie Gregson-MacLeod, Lydia Luce with Lockeland Strings will perform at Union Chapel in December. Tickets will go on sale on October 4th!

Lockeland Strings is a community arts organization that puts on monthly showcases of local artists accompanied by string quintet, alongside performances of new contemporary classical pieces from local composers. With performances from Kacey Musgraves to Lucie Silvas, Lockeland Strings has grown from a house show to the Parthenon and Wilburn Street Studios. It partners with a new nonprofit each month to give a platform to organizations, including the ACLU of Tennessee, Girls Write Nashville, The Little Pantry That Could and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

In 2011, Birdy suddenly appeared and scored a huge hit all over the world with a cover of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love. Now the singer is back with a new album, Portraits. At the age of only 27, Birdy has three top 5 albums, 8 million albums sold worldwide, a BRIT and Grammy nomination and various soundtracks for Netflix and Amazon to her name. The new work Portraits, her most self-confident album to date, was also recently released. Birdy discovers a new world on it and even her true voice with a touch of the eighties.

British-Brazilan singer-songwriter Liana Flores pairs dream-like vignettes of her intimate world with wistful guitar melodies to get lost in, combining a unique and intoxicating range of stylistic influences from British folk and classic jazz to ‘60s Brazilian bossa nova. Following the runaway global success of her self-released track ‘rises the moon’, Liana embarks on her first headline dates with her brand new band to play fresh material that she’s spent the past year perfecting.

Katie Gregson-MacLeod was just eight years old when she first sang solo in public. At the Inverness Music Festival, she performed one of her own songs, the aptly titled ‘Different’. Now, thanks to a life-changing summer, Katie’s songs are being produced by Grammy Award winners and her fans include stars of pop, stage and screen. “I found a video of that performance recently and, you know what, I wasn’t bad,” laughs the 21 year old who is about to become a household name. “The song had structure, a middle eight, proper chords. I don’t know who broke that little kid’s heart, but she was really going for it.” For as long as she can remember, Katie has composed songs, poems and short stories. From her early teens, inspired by Amy Winehouse, she knew that a career in music was her future.

On her new album Florida Girl, Lydia Luce offers up a body of work graced with all the transformative beauty of watercolor, at turns delicate, dreamlike, and instantly potent in its emotional realism. The second full-length from the Fort Lauderdale-born singer/songwriter, Florida Girl matches its luminous form of indie-folk with an in-depth examination of Luce’s inner life, exploring everything from mortality to body image to the ineffable intricacy of human connection. As she bares her soul and unburdens her heart, Luce slowly embraces her own infinite complexity—ultimately arriving at the self-possessed state of mind that inspired the album’s title.
